We all need to be aware of activity around our neighborhood and report suspicious activity and crimes in progress.  Here is some information from the Hillsborough County Neighborhood Watch webpage (scroll to bottom of page for this and other useful links) and other Hillsborough County Sheriff's sources:

You may become aware of something that is out of ordinary that you feel is leading up to some type of criminal activity.  This is your chance to prevent crime in your neighborhood.  Remember, what is suspicious to you may not be to someone else.  Don't hesitate to call law enforcement; better safe than sorry.

We requested and received some clarification from the Sheriff's Community Services Section regarding door to door solicitors.   A solicitor knocking at the door does not automatically mean they are trespassing even though our neighborhood entrances have "No Soliciting" signage.  They can only be trespassing on an individual's property after they have been asked to leave by the property owner and then refused to leave.  Do not let anyone you do not know into your home.  Always request identification from tradesmen and sales people and report aggressive solicitors to the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number (813-247-8200).  Please Note:  The streets and sidewalks are property of Hillsborough County and anyone can legally use them. 

• Theft: Taking of another's property.
• Burglary: Illegally entering a structure, such as a house, trailer, shed, or garage.
• Vandalism: (Criminal Mischief) Damaging another's property with criminal intent.
• Trespassing: Being on someone else's property with out their permission.
• Prowler: Someone trespassing with malicious intent.
• Robbery: Taking property of another by use of fear, force or weapon.:

• Call the Sheriff's non-emergency dispatch number (813-247-8200) to report suspicious persons, vehicles or activity.
• Call directly to 9-1-1 for emergencies or crimes in progress.
• If in doubt which number to call, use 9-1-1.  The operator can redirect your call if necessary.
• Say, "I would like to report a. . .(type of incident)."
• Give the correct house number, street name and closest major intersection. (May also add color of home or vehicle in driveway.)
• Give a complete description of the suspect and the suspect's vehicle, including tag number when possible. 
• Stay on the line until the operator advises he/she has all the information; remember to ask for an "event number".

We will only post the block number, not the specific address.  The list is sorted from the most recent to earlier reports.  If you are aware of any incidents that are not on this list, whether officially reported or not - (NR) = Not Reported to Sheriff - please send the information to hoa@woodbriarvillage.info. The list does not include medical emergency calls.
